Celebrate Parrish Fire District’s First Ladder Truck – August 4
Mark your calendar for Monday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. as the Parrish Fire District invites the community to its headquarters for a traditional “Wet Down and Push-In” ceremony. The event celebrates the arrival of the district’s first-ever ladder truck, Ladder 819. Visitors can tour the station, meet local firefighters, and explore the new equipment at 12132 US Highway 301 North in Parrish.
Wildlife Presentation at Palma Sola Botanical Park – August 4
Also on Monday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m., Palma Sola Botanical Park will host a free “Wildlife, Inc. Animal Demonstration” as part of its indoor Summer Fun Environmental Classes. The family-friendly program provides hands-on environmental learning in the comfort of air conditioning. No registration fee is required, but space is limited.
Turtle Talks at Holmes Beach – August 4
Join the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch for “Turtle Tracks & Shorebird Facts,” a free presentation held every Monday through August. The next session takes place on Monday, August 4 from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Holmes Beach City Hall (5801 Marina Drive). This engaging event offers insights into local sea turtle nesting and bird conservation efforts.
Final Regal Summer Movie Express Screenings – August 5 & 6
The $1 Summer Movie Express series wraps up this week at participating Regal Cinemas. On Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5 and 6, families can enjoy Minions: The Rise of Gru and Paddington in Peru during morning showings. It’s the last chance to take advantage of this affordable summer tradition.
Comedy for a Cause: Habitat Fundraiser – August 7
On Thursday, August 7, Manatee County Habitat for Humanity will host its Comedy Fundraiser Night at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre in Sarasota. Featuring national headliner Lynne Koplitz, the evening supports the 2026 Women Build project. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $28, with $22 from each ticket going directly to the home-building initiative. Venue: 1923 Ringling Blvd, Sarasota.

On Saturday, August 9, Manatee Village Historical Park in Bradenton hosts its “Cow Hunter Day”, the final Summer Saturday event featuring pioneer‑era exhibits, historical demonstrations, and hands‑on activities between 10 AM and noon. The free event allows families to explore early cattle‑hunter life in Manatee County.
Bonsai Workshop at Palma Sola – August 11
Looking ahead to Monday, August 11, Palma Sola Botanical Park will offer its “Bonsai Make It & Take It Workshop” at 11:00 a.m. for $50. Participants will learn the art of bonsai and leave with their own potted tree. Early registration is encouraged due to limited space.
