Family-Friendly Complex Approved for Holmes Beach City Center
Holmes Beach is set to welcome a new family-friendly complex at the Gulf and Marina Drives intersection following the city's approval of a major site plan. The development will feature a second Island Bazaar store, an outdoor miniature golf course, an ice cream shop, an arcade, a restaurant with rooftop seating, and a candy store.
The property, formerly a Wells Fargo bank at 5325 and 5327 Gulf Drive, was purchased in June 2023 by Jake Spooner, a former Bradenton Beach Commissioner and local business owner. Spooner plans to rehabilitate the 10,328-square-foot building to create a vibrant destination in the city's commercial district.
The complex's first floor will include the Island Bazaar retail shop, an ice cream shop, an arcade, and an outdoor miniature golf course. The second floor is designed to house a restaurant with both covered and open roof deck seating and a candy store. City officials have expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that it will introduce a unique attraction to the area.
The site plan was discussed during a public workshop at a city commission meeting on September 24, 2024. The development is expected to enhance the city's commercial offerings and provide a new entertainment venue for residents and visitors.
Construction timelines have not been publicly announced. Residents and visitors can look forward to a new destination that combines shopping, dining, and entertainment in the heart of Holmes Beach.
