As Farm-City Week concludes, Manatee County celebrates the invaluable contributions of its local farmers. These hardworking individuals ensure a steady supply of fresh, nutritious, and affordable food to the community while playing a critical role in the local economy. Agriculture in Manatee County generates an impressive $360 million annually, with products grown and harvested across 750 farms covering 213,000 acres—accounting for 37% of the county's land.
This year’s Farm-City Week featured various events showcasing the importance of the partnership between urban and rural communities. A standout highlight was the day-long agricultural tour, where participants traveled via charter bus to explore some of the region's notable farming operations. The tour included stops at McKeithen Growers, Taylor Cattle & Citrus, Blackbeard’s Ranch, and Mariposa Nursery, offering attendees an up-close look at the diversity and innovation within Manatee County's agricultural sector.
Farm-City Week serves as a reminder of the essential role agriculture plays in sustaining the local community and economy, while also fostering a deeper appreciation for the dedication of farmers and the land they nurture.
