FDOT Approves Environmental Report for Fort Hamer Road Project; Design Phase Moves Forward
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has officially approved the State Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for the Fort Hamer Road Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. The approval, granted on July 2, 2025, marks the completion of the PD&E phase for the proposed roadway improvements extending from Upper Manatee River Road to U.S. 301.
With this milestone achieved, Manatee County is now advancing into the design and permitting phase of the project. County officials anticipate that this phase will be completed by late 2026.
However, the timeline for acquiring right-of-way and beginning construction has yet to be determined. These phases remain unfunded, and county officials have not established a schedule for their implementation.
The proposed improvements aim to enhance regional connectivity and support future growth in the fast-developing northeast portion of Manatee County.
