FDOT to Host Public Meeting on Palmetto and Terra Ceia Safety Improvements
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public meeting to discuss proposed safety and access improvements along State Road 45/USB 41, US 41, and US 19 in the Palmetto and Terra Ceia areas of Manatee County.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with two participation options available. Residents may join the live online session from 5 to 6 p.m., or attend in person anytime between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the Manatee County Fairgrounds, Veterans’ Hall, located at 1402 14th Avenue West in Palmetto.
FDOT plans to implement mid-block crossings with pedestrian hybrid beacons on State Road 45/USB 41 (8th Avenue West) at 11th Street Drive West to enhance pedestrian safety. Additional intersection median modification improvements are proposed at multiple locations, including US 41 and Palmetto Canning Driveway, as well as along US 19 at 49th Street (Experimental Farm Road), 50th Street (Elena Road), 52nd Street West (Buena Vista Road), Palmetto Point Drive, 61st Street East (Palm View Road), Bayshore Drive, and Ken Hubbard Road.
FDOT officials will share details of the proposed modifications and provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share feedback on the plans.
