Firefighters Rescue Crated Dogs from Smoke-Filled Bradenton Home
Two dogs were rescued from a smoke-filled home Monday morning after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a Bradenton residence, according to Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue.
Emergency crews from Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue, Bradenton Fire Department, and Manatee County EMS responded to the call around 11:30 a.m. The homeowner met the responders outside and stated that she was unsure of the fire’s origin but reported that her two dogs were still inside the house.
Firefighters located a small kitchen fire, which they quickly extinguished. A search team found the dogs confined to their crates in a bedroom. The animals were brought outside, where firefighters and EMS crews began emergency care.
Both dogs were suffering from smoke inhalation and received oxygen therapy on scene. Responders also used water to help cool the dogs, who eventually regained consciousness. Once stabilized and breathing more comfortably, the dogs were returned to their owners.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
