First Annual Blues Festival Hits a High Note in Palmetto
PALMETTO – The sweet sound of blues and the savory aroma of local fare filled the air during the first annual Blues Festival at the Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa on Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22. Hosted at The Yard, the two-day event brought together top musical talent and local vendors for a soulful celebration of music, food, and community.
Friday evening's lineup included Memphis Rub opening the festival from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a crowd-pleasing set from Petty Experience from 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, music started early and kept the crowd swaying all day with performances by Charlie Morris, Doug Demming, Annika Chambers & Paul Deslauriers, and Trey Wanvig closing the night.
In addition to the stellar music, festival-goers were treated to a variety of local vendors offering food and specialty products. Brooklyn J’s Downtown Eatz, known for its non-pork offerings, kept guests fueled with bold flavors and a creative menu. Gram Slam Bar-B-Que, run by DAS Hustleman Enterprises, was a popular stop for smoky, slow-cooked favorites from their signature food trailer.
The event also featured Creole Queen Mobile Cigars, whose “Wanna tap DAT ASH” booth turned heads with its catchy branding and selection of fine cigars, adding a touch of luxury to the outdoor experience.
Organizers were pleased with the strong turnout and support from the community, making this inaugural festival a promising start to what may become a beloved annual tradition. For more information on upcoming events at The Yard, contact theyardspecialevents@gmail.com.
