Flight to the North Pole Brings Holiday Joy to Local Children Facing Medical Challenges
A long-standing holiday tradition returned to Manatee County as Flight to the North Pole once again provided a special day of celebration for terminally ill and disabled children and their families.
The annual event, held since 1985, was hosted at FELD Entertainment, where the facility was transformed into a winter wonderland. Children and their families took part in holiday-themed crafts, met Santa and Mrs. Claus, and received gifts, creating a festive atmosphere that offered joy and relief during a difficult time of year.
Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells said the purpose of the event is to give families a meaningful break from the routine of medical treatments and doctors’ appointments, allowing them to focus on spending time together in a positive and uplifting setting.
Each year, Flight to the North Pole brings together community partners, volunteers and families to continue a tradition rooted in compassion and support, offering moments of happiness to children facing serious medical challenges and those who care for them.
