Florida Opens Applications for Free Swim Lesson Voucher Program for Children Ages 1–7
Florida families can now apply for the state’s Swimming Lesson Voucher Program, which provides free swimming lessons to eligible children while funding remains available. The program is open to Florida residents with children ages 1 through 7 whose household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
A notable change from last year expands eligibility to more families. Previously, the program was limited to children up to 4 years old. This year, children up to age 7 are eligible to receive vouchers, allowing more young swimmers to benefit from water safety instruction.
Each voucher covers eight swimming lessons with a certified local instructor, typically completed over two weeks. The program is designed to help children develop essential water safety skills and reduce the risk of drowning.
Applications are now being accepted and will remain open until available funding is exhausted. Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as vouchers will be distributed while funds last.
