Former Booker High School Employee Charged in Sexual Abuse Case Involving Teen
A Bradenton man who previously worked as a security aide at Booker High School has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say the case began on August 12, when the Sarasota County School Police notified Manatee County authorities about allegations of sexual misconduct involving a Sarasota County Schools employee and a student.
Detectives identified the suspect as 42-year-old Daniel Wilson. According to the sheriff’s office, Wilson befriended the victim late last year and offered her a place to stay at his home in the 600 block of Cortez Road West in Bradenton after she became homeless. While living there, authorities say the victim was drugged and sexually abused on multiple occasions.
Officials said the victim described being given a drug referred to as “moonshine rock,” a powerful sedative that rendered her incapacitated. When questioned by detectives, Wilson reportedly admitted to parts of the allegations, investigators said.
Wilson was taken into custody by North Port Police on October 14 and faces a charge of sexual battery by an offender in a position of authority.
Sarasota County Schools confirmed that Wilson, who was hired in 2024 as a campus security aide and later worked as a bus driver, has been placed on administrative leave. The district stated it is cooperating fully with law enforcement.
Parents at Booker High School expressed concern and disappointment following the arrest, emphasizing the need for trust and accountability within schools.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said there is currently no evidence of additional victims, but the investigation remains ongoing.
