Former Dental Office Manager Sentenced to 15 Years for Fraud in Manatee County
A former dental office manager has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for defrauding patients and dental practices in Manatee County. The sentence, handed down on September 3, 2025, by Circuit Judge Stephen Mathew Whyte, represents the maximum penalty for the most serious charges.
Tiffany Denyse Young, 54, of St. Petersburg, entered a plea of no contest earlier this year to multiple charges, including scheming to defraud, fraudulent use of personal identification information involving more than 10 victims and individuals over 60, and obtaining controlled substances by fraud. She was also ordered to serve 15 years of probation following her prison term.
Prosecutors stated that the crimes occurred between 2020 and 2023, while Young was employed as an office manager at two Manatee County dental practices. According to investigators, she misused her position to steal tens of thousands of dollars. Methods included altering patient checks, diverting payments into her personal account, undercharging credit cards while pocketing the difference, and manipulating office accounting systems to conceal theft. She also used a dentist’s DEA registration number to obtain prescription medications for herself.
Officials reported that Young falsified information on employment applications to secure her positions. Court records show she has a history of similar offenses and has previously served prison time.
The State Attorney’s Office for the 12th Judicial Circuit, which covers Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto counties, prosecuted the case. Prosecutors noted that the sentence not only reflects the severity of the crimes but also highlights the importance of employers thoroughly vetting individuals in positions of financial responsibility.
The conviction carries both a mandatory minimum of three years in prison for the identity fraud charge and the 15-year maximum sentence for the highest-level offenses. Young will remain under court supervision for 30 years between her prison term and probation.
