Former M&L Cabinet Owners Sentenced for Fraudulent Scheme
The former owners of M&L Cabinets, a now-defunct kitchen renovation business, have been sentenced to prison for defrauding customers out of thousands of dollars.
Ryan Nobles, the company’s former owner, was convicted of misapplication of construction funds exceeding $100,000, a first-degree felony. His co-owner, Nicole Anderson, pleaded guilty to felony scheming to defraud more than $50,000. Bradenton Police arrested both in September 2023 following an extensive investigation into fraudulent business practices.
Detective Michael Carpenter began looking into the company in February 2023 after receiving numerous customer complaints. Reports indicated that individuals had paid large deposits for kitchen renovations that were never started or completed. Nearly two dozen customers lost substantial amounts, ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. Additionally, the company failed to pay suppliers for cabinets that had already been ordered and received.
Financial records obtained during the investigation revealed that Nobles spent approximately $220,000 at casinos in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and aboard cruise ships between August 2022 and January 2023. During the same period, Anderson made company credit card purchases and ATM withdrawals totaling around $90,000. Despite these expenditures, the pair continued to collect payments from clients.
Nobles has been sentenced to 30 months in the Department of Corrections, followed by 27 years of probation. Anderson received a 21-month prison sentence and 20 years of probation. She has been ordered to pay $88,507 in restitution, while the amount Nobles will be required to pay will be determined at a future court date.
