Former Palmetto Pastor to Stand Trial April 20 on Child Molestation and Child Pornography Charges
A former Palmetto pastor accused of molesting a child and possessing child pornography is scheduled to face trial beginning April 20 at the Manatee County Courthouse in Bradenton.
The investigation began in June 2024 when the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office received information alleging that Jonathan Elwing was using cryptocurrency to purchase inappropriate images of children. Detectives launched an inquiry that led to the execution of search warrants at both his residence and the church where he was employed.
According to authorities, deputies recovered graphic images of children during the searches. Investigators said the evidence gathered formed the basis for multiple felony charges.
Elwing is charged with child sexual battery, molestation and possession of child pornography. The case will be heard in Manatee County Circuit Court, where prosecutors are expected to present digital evidence and testimony related to the investigation.
If convicted on the charges, Elwing could face significant prison time under Florida law. Jury selection and trial proceedings are set to begin on April 20.

I would love to be on that jury.
