Four Arrested After Manatee Beach Trip Ends in Armed Carjacking
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four individuals following a carjacking incident that began as a beach outing on July 8 and ended in the theft of a man’s vehicle using his own firearm.
Authorities say a group of friends, including siblings Clarence Jackson and Samyiah Brinson, Luckson Pierre, and Valencia Guerrero-Jarosz, met up with the male victim for a trip to Lido Beach. The victim, who drove the group in his 2004 Jeep Patriot, had a 9mm Walther P38 pistol stored in a zipped pouch under the front passenger seat.
After spending the day at the beach, the group stopped at a Wawa convenience store. It was there that the victim noticed items under the seat had been disturbed, and his firearm was missing. When he picked up a backpack belonging to Clarence Jackson and felt what he believed was his missing weapon inside, Samyiah Brinson reportedly took the backpack from him and walked away.
Surveillance footage later showed Clarence Jackson allegedly threatening the victim multiple times at gunpoint with the stolen firearm. Jackson, Brinson, Pierre, and Guerrero-Jarosz then entered the victim’s Jeep and fled the scene westbound on Cortez Road.
Deputies later located the stolen vehicle at Cortez Plaza. All four suspects were arrested without incident. The stolen firearm was recovered from the trunk of the vehicle.
Clarence Jackson has been charged with Grand Theft of a Firearm and Carjacking with a Firearm or Weapon. Samyiah Brinson, Luckson Pierre, and Valencia Guerrero-Jarosz were each charged with Carjacking with a Firearm or Weapon. All four were transported to the Manatee County Jail.
