FPL Saving Steps Program Offers Eligible Households $200 Bill Credit to Help Reduce Energy Costs
Florida Power & Light is encouraging eligible customers to take advantage of its Saving Steps program, which is designed to help income-qualified households reduce energy use, better manage monthly electric bills and receive a one-time $200 bill credit.
The program is aimed at families facing financial challenges as energy costs continue to strain household budgets. In Manatee County, an estimated 43% of households live below the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) threshold, a measure that identifies working families who earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to afford basic necessities.
To qualify, customers must have an active residential FPL account and meet the income eligibility requirements for their county.
Participants begin by checking their eligibility online, followed by a 15-minute energy-saving walkthrough that provides practical tips for reducing electricity use. After completing the walkthrough, applicants verify their income through FPL’s community partner, The Salvation Army.
Customers whose applications are approved will receive a one-time $200 bill credit applied to their FPL account, typically within 90 days. The credit is subject to funding availability.
