Free Christmas Trees and LED Lights Draw Hundreds at Boys & Girls Clubs Giveaway
Holiday spirit arrived early this week as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, in partnership with Florida Power & Light, distributed free 5-foot Christmas trees and energy-efficient LED lights to local families on Tuesday afternoon.
The giveaway, held at the organization’s Christmas tree lot at 3913 Manatee Ave. W., drew a long line well before the 4 p.m. start time. The first 200 households in line received a fresh tree along with a set of LED holiday lights designed to help reduce seasonal energy costs.
FPL representatives were on hand throughout the event, sharing practical tips with attendees on how to keep their energy bills low during the holidays. Guidance included choosing LED lighting, managing thermostat settings, and using energy-smart practices during holiday cooking and gatherings.
Families expressed gratitude as they carried their trees and light sets to their vehicles, marking a cheerful start to the season. The Boys & Girls Clubs said the partnership reflects their shared commitment to supporting the community and helping families enjoy a brighter, more affordable holiday.
The event wrapped up once all trees were distributed, leaving organizers pleased with the turnout and the positive impact on local residents gearing up for the festive season.
