Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare Launches “$10 for 10” Campaign to Celebrate a Decade of Saving Shelter Animals
High-volume, grassroots fundraising initiative invites the community to give $10 in honor of 10 years of providing local homeless animals with second chances.
Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare (FOMCAW) proudly announces the launch of its landmark “$10 for 10” fundraising campaign, commemorating a decade of dedicated service to the homeless and vulnerable shelter animals of Manatee County. For the past 10 years, the nonprofit organization has worked tirelessly to save lives, provide critical medical care, and help find loving, forever homes for thousands of shelter pets.
To honor this milestone, FOMCAW is inviting the community to unite through the “$10 for 10” campaign. Animal lovers and shelter animal advocates are asked to give a milestone gift starting at just $10—representing one dollar for each year of community impact. While a $10 gift is a powerful way to join the movement, FOMCAW encourages donors to look at how these numbers multiply. If you are able to do more, a gift of $100 provides a special Kuranda dog bed, while a gift of $500 or more helps fund life-saving emergency surgeries or heartworm treatment. Whether $10 is your perfect comfort level or you choose to celebrate this anniversary with a larger, transformative gift, every dollar builds the foundation needed to protect Manatee County’s shelter animals for the next ten years.
“For ten years, our mission has been fueled by a simple belief: every shelter animal deserves a second chance at a happy, healthy life,” said the Board of Directors at FOMCAW. “The $10 for 10 campaign is built on the power of community and a shared love for these animals. A single ten-dollar bill might seem small, but when thousands of us join together, it transforms into life-saving medical care and bright new futures. We are asking everyone who has ever loved, adopted, fostered, or simply had a heart for a shelter pet to stand with us by supporting this campaign.”
Every single $10 donation adds up to create a massive wave of support. To show the community exactly how these collective funds are utilized, FOMCAW has outlined the costs associated with their specialized programs:
Grace and Friends Medical Fund ($500 to thousands of dollars): Funds the organization’s single most expensive operational cost, covering everything from urgent laceration repairs to complex, life-saving orthopedic or soft-tissue surgeries.
Heal My Heart Fund ($150 to $1,000): Covers the highly variable cost of treating heartworm disease, removing a major barrier to adoption. Even after a dog is adopted, FOMCAW continues to pay for the medical regimen until the dog is completely heartworm-free.
Enrichment and Slumber Fund ($25 to $100+): Purchases durable, elevated orthopedic Kuranda beds ($100) to keep shelter dogs comfortable and off concrete floors. It also funds toys, treats, and stimulation items ($25+) to keep both cats and dogs mentally active while they await their forever homes.
Food for Ferals Fund ($25 on up): Provides essential nutrition, care, and support for community cat colonies across the county.
Donations Matched
Adding incredible momentum to the campaign, four amazing local businesses have agreed to be matching sponsors, with each one unlocking only after the previous $1,000 goal is reached!
Level 1: Trudy Moon & Stewart Moon will match the first $1,000
Level 2: AMI Home Girls, April Green and Brittnee Willoughby will match the next $1,000
Level 3: Dog Perfect will match the next $1,000
Level 4: Sunmed, Your CBD will match the final $1,000
With each of these dedicated supporters contributing a $1,000 match, the community has a powerful opportunity to see their initial donations multiplied.
The “$10 for 10” campaign will run from June through December 2026. By keeping the entry point to donation low, FOMCAW hopes to inspire local businesses, families, and individual pet owners to participate.
