The 2026 Giving Challenge concluded with a powerful show of community support, raising more than $16.7 million for local nonprofits across Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties.
Hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the 24-hour giving event brought together 751 participating nonprofit organizations and 50,863 donors, resulting in 87,814 individual gifts. The annual initiative continues to demonstrate the region’s strong culture of philanthropy and collective commitment to supporting vital community services.
The unrestricted nature of donations allows organizations to allocate funds where they are needed most, whether to expand programs, address immediate community needs, or invest in long-term growth. From education and youth development to health services, arts and culture, and environmental initiatives, the impact of the Giving Challenge spans a wide range of causes.
The event also reinforces the importance of collaboration, connecting nonprofits with new supporters while strengthening relationships with existing donors. Many organizations use the Giving Challenge not only as a fundraising opportunity but also to increase awareness and engagement throughout the community.
As participation and totals continue to grow each year, the Giving Challenge remains a cornerstone of regional giving, highlighting what can be achieved when individuals come together around a shared goal of making a difference.
