Giving Challenge Returns April 15–16, Connecting Hundreds of Nonprofits Across the Suncoast
A 24-hour wave of generosity is set to begin as the 2026 Giving Challenge kicks off from noon April 15 through noon April 16, uniting communities across Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties in support of hundreds of nonprofit organizations.
Organized by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the Giving Challenge has grown into one of the region’s most impactful annual fundraising events, connecting more than 700 nonprofits with donors, families, and businesses. The initiative encourages community members to support causes they care about while strengthening relationships between organizations and the people they serve.
All donations made during the Giving Challenge are unrestricted, allowing nonprofits the flexibility to use funds where they are needed most. This approach empowers organizations to expand programs, respond to emerging needs, and invest in long-term sustainability.
The event highlights the diversity of the nonprofit sector, with participating organizations spanning education, youth development, healthcare, arts and culture, environmental conservation, and human services. From local food banks and youth mentoring programs to performing arts groups and health-focused initiatives, the Giving Challenge provides a platform for causes of all sizes to gain visibility and support.
Community leaders emphasize that the Giving Challenge is not only about raising funds but also about building lasting connections. By bringing together donors and nonprofits in a concentrated 24-hour period, the event fosters collaboration, increases awareness, and inspires ongoing engagement beyond the campaign.
Residents are encouraged to explore participating organizations and consider how their contributions—of any size—can help create meaningful impact. With hundreds of causes to choose from, the Giving Challenge offers individuals and families an opportunity to play a direct role in strengthening their communities.
