Green Bridge to Close for July 4th Fireworks in Bradenton
Drivers and pedestrians should prepare for temporary closures of the Green Bridge on the evening of July 4 as Bradenton and Palmetto gear up for their annual Independence Day fireworks celebration.
The Green Bridge, which spans the Manatee River and connects the two cities, will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning at 8:30 p.m. and to pedestrians at 8:45 p.m. The fireworks display, which launches from the Green Bridge fishing pier, is scheduled to begin around 9:00 p.m. The bridge will reopen to both vehicles and pedestrians once the show concludes and any debris has been cleared from the area.
The De Soto Bridge will remain open throughout the evening for north-south travel between Bradenton and Palmetto.
Free parking is available in various downtown Bradenton garages and lots; however, the parking lot at Rossi Park will be closed. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the show from along the Riverwalk, especially between Rossi Park and the Green Bridge, which offers prime viewing locations.
Additional details about Independence Day festivities on both sides of the river can be found on the Bradenton Police Department’s website. The cities of Bradenton and Palmetto are encouraging attendees to arrive early, use designated parking areas, and follow all posted safety signage for a smooth and enjoyable celebration.
