Groundbreaking Marks Start of New High School in Lakewood Ranch
A milestone in local education was celebrated Wednesday morning with the ceremonial groundbreaking of what is currently known as “AAA High School,” a new campus planned near Lorraine Road and Rangeland Parkway in Lakewood Ranch.
The event brought together Superintendent Dr. Laurie Breslin, members of the Manatee County School Board, district leadership, and community partners, all of whom participated in the traditional turning of the dirt to mark the start of construction.
Once completed, the new high school is expected to help address continued growth in eastern Manatee County and provide additional educational capacity for families in the Lakewood Ranch area. District officials emphasized that the project reflects long-term planning efforts to meet enrollment demands while creating modern learning environments for students.
School board members and community leaders in attendance highlighted the importance of collaboration among the School District, local government, and area residents to bring the project to fruition. The campus will ultimately receive an official name as the project progresses.
Construction timelines and additional details about the school’s programs and features are expected to be shared in future updates from the School District of Manatee County.
