Gulfcoast South AHEC Opens Registration for Summer Medical Interpreting Training Program
Gulfcoast South Area Health Education Center is now accepting registrations for its upcoming 40-hour Medical Interpreting Training course, offering bilingual individuals an opportunity to advance their careers in healthcare.
The hybrid program begins June 2, 2026, and will be delivered over seven weeks through a combination of Zoom and Google Classroom sessions. Classes are scheduled Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with orientation kicking off the program, followed by weekly sessions through July 14, when participants will complete their final assessment.
Designed to meet the growing demand for qualified medical interpreters, the training prepares participants to support effective communication between healthcare providers and patients who speak languages other than English. The program emphasizes improving patient satisfaction, increasing access to preventative care, and reducing risks associated with miscommunication in medical settings.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate recognizing them as trained medical interpreters. The course also fulfills the prerequisites for pursuing national certification in medical interpreting.
Registration for the program is open through May 23, 2026. Community members are encouraged to share the opportunity with others who may benefit from entering or advancing in the healthcare field. Additional details about the course and registration process are available on the Gulfcoast South AHEC website.
