Guy Fieri Foundation Serves Up Gratitude to Holmes Beach First Responders for Hurricane Relief Efforts
Celebrity chef Guy Fieri and his foundation brought a culinary team to Holmes Beach on Wednesday to honor local first responders who have been instrumental in hurricane recovery efforts. Known for his high-energy cooking style and dedication to disaster relief, Fieri arrived with a group of chefs, including Big Lee's BBQ from Ocala, Chef Richard Hales, and Rocco Mangel from Rocco's Tacos, to provide a well-deserved meal to the emergency personnel of Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island.
The meal was a heartfelt thank-you to the first responders who have worked tirelessly through the challenges of back-to-back hurricanes. Holmes Beach Police, Manatee Search and Rescue, and other first responders have been on the front lines, braving floodwaters and extensive storm damage to assist residents and bring stability back to the community.
Fieri’s passion for supporting first responders, veterans, and active military stems from his firsthand experience witnessing their commitment during California’s wildfires. With the Guy Fieri Foundation, he has served over 120,000 meals in disaster relief efforts across the country, often mobilizing relief trailers specifically designed for large-scale food distribution. His latest trailer, built in Georgia, arrived in the southern states to assist communities affected by recent hurricanes.
Holmes Beach officers, in collaboration with Manatee Search and Rescue, have been at the center of recovery efforts, from rescuing families in flooded areas to coordinating cleanup initiatives. Local residents, grateful for the dedication these emergency workers show, have expressed their appreciation for their rapid response and ongoing support.
Fieri's visit highlighted the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by these individuals, many of whom leave their own families to serve others. He hopes that acts of gratitude like these will remind the community of the resilience and dedication of those who serve.
In support of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Disaster Relief Fund, Fieri and Rocco Mangel will host a benefit on November 18 at Rocco’s Tacos in Boca Raton. This event aims to raise funds for Florida’s hospitality industry, which has also felt the impact of recent hurricanes.
