The Herrig Center for the Arts is inviting local businesses, nonprofits, schools, service clubs, artists, sports teams, families and community organizations to help transform its downtown Bradenton gallery into a holiday showcase during The Art of the Season.
Participants are invited to decorate their own artificial Christmas trees, creating displays that reflect their organizations, cultures, traditions, missions or individual creativity. Organizers hope the collection will represent the diversity of the Bradenton community, with no two trees looking the same.
Trees must be at least six feet tall and artificial. There is no cost to participate. Decorating and setup will take place during business hours on Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1. Trees will remain on display through Tuesday, Dec. 22.
The celebration will culminate with The Art of the Season opening night from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Herrig Center for the Arts, 888 Third Ave. W. in Bradenton. The family-friendly evening will include the decorated trees, holiday treats, hot chocolate, children’s activities and an opportunity to explore the center’s current exhibitions.
Two art receptions will also take place that evening. Together Again, an open juried exhibition, will feature works centered on connection, community and shared human experience. New Ground, a curated exhibition by Art Uptown Group, will showcase works by the Sarasota-based artist group.
Organizations decorating trees may include their name and information on their display or use a QR code directing visitors to their website, allowing participating groups to introduce their work to gallery visitors throughout the holiday season.
