High Tide Advisory Issued for Manatee County Coastal Areas Sunday Night
Higher-than-normal tide levels are forecast for Manatee County late Sunday night, February 15, with water levels expected to reach or exceed 2 feet around midnight. A cold front moving through the area Sunday evening is also expected to bring gusty winds, which could contribute to elevated water levels along the coast and riverfront areas.
While significant flooding is not anticipated, minor tidal flooding may occur in low-lying coastal communities. Areas that could see water over roads or in typically flood-prone spots include Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, the Bradenton and Palmetto riverfronts, Cortez Village, Palmetto Point, Rubonia and Terra Ceia Island.
Residents and visitors are urged to remain alert, particularly in neighborhoods known for tidal impacts. Drivers should use caution when traveling near coastal roads and avoid any areas where water covers the roadway. Officials remind motorists never to drive through flooded streets, even if the water appears shallow.
According to the forecast map guide, orange points indicate areas that could experience between 0.1 and 1 foot of water. Winds associated with the approaching cold front may briefly enhance localized impacts before conditions improve.
Community members are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and plan accordingly if traveling near waterfront locations on Sunday night.
