High Tides May Cause Minor Coastal Flooding in Manatee County Through Tuesday
Residents along the Manatee County coastline are being advised to remain alert as higher-than-normal tide levels are forecast around midday on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16.
Officials expect water levels to reach or exceed 2 feet during the peak tides. While significant flooding is not anticipated, minor tidal flooding may occur in low-lying coastal communities and waterfront areas.
Locations that could experience minor flooding include Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, the Bradenton and Palmetto riverfronts, Cortez Village, Palmetto Point, Rubonia and Terra Ceia Island.
County officials are encouraging motorists and residents to use caution when traveling near coastal roadways and waterfront areas. Drivers should avoid flooded streets and never attempt to drive through standing water.
Forecast maps indicate the potential for shallow flooding in some areas, with orange markers representing water depths ranging from 0.1 to 1 foot. Conditions are expected to be most noticeable around the midday high tide cycles.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather and tide forecasts and remain aware of changing conditions along the coast.
