Hillsborough Deputy Appears in Manatee Court on DUI Charge

A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy appeared in a Manatee County courtroom today to face a charge of driving under the influence.

Shannon McBride, 60, has been employed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for seven years and was most recently assigned as a jail detention deputy.

According to investigators, deputies with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a possibly impaired driver on Sept. 29 along Manatee River Road. When deputies arrived, they reported finding McBride behind the wheel and observed what they described as clear signs of impairment.

Authorities said McBride refused to submit to a breath test at the scene.

Court records indicated that her pre-trial conference was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
