Hillsborough Detention Deputy Arrested for DUI in Manatee County
BRADENTON — A detention deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was arrested in Manatee County over the weekend on a charge of driving under the influence.
The arrest happened Saturday evening after the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible intoxicated driver operating a silver Toyota Tacoma along Upper Manatee River Road. Deputies located the vehicle shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Brixley Apartments, where it was found improperly parked.
According to deputies, the driver, identified as 60-year-old Shannon McBride, showed signs of impairment while sitting in the driver’s seat. McBride refused to provide a breath sample and was taken into custody.
McBride has been employed with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for seven years and was assigned to a housing unit at the Orient Road Jail. Following her arrest, she was placed on administrative leave without pay while an internal affairs investigation is conducted.
She is facing a misdemeanor DUI charge in connection with the incident.
