Historic Bradenton Pharmacy Building Hits Market, Business to Remain Open
A Bradenton property that has housed Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy for more than 90 years is now for sale, though the longtime pharmacy will continue serving the community.
The three-story mixed-use building at 831 Manatee Avenue East, just east of downtown, is being marketed by its current owner, Philip Farley. The site includes multiple storefronts and an attached parking lot. It was previously listed for $3 million by NDC Commercial Real Estate, which promoted it for redevelopment opportunities.
Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy, a business with a 130-year legacy in Bradenton, is not affected by the sale. Family members emphasized that only the building—not the pharmacy—is up for sale.
According to the Manatee Village Historical Park, the business began in 1894 as the Manatee Drug Co., founded by J.C. Pelot, J.J. Pelot, and J.F. Stebbins. It was renamed Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy in 1925 and relocated to its current site in 1934. The pharmacy is now owned by Robert Pelot, who purchased it from his father, John Crews Pelot.
Farley acquired the property from the Pelot family in 2020 for $1.25 million, county property records show. Nearly a century old, the structure has endured significant challenges, including storm damage from hurricanes Helene and Milton last year.
The building’s future may be uncertain, but Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy remains a steady presence, continuing its role as one of Bradenton’s most enduring businesses.
