HOPE Family Services Promotes Awareness During Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Throughout October, HOPE Family Services is observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month by educating the community about the many forms of abuse and the resources available to those in need. The organization’s awareness campaign features a series of informational materials that highlight how abuse can appear in different ways, from psychological and emotional manipulation to financial control, intimidation, and isolation.
The campaign underscores that domestic violence is not confined to any single group. It affects people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and income levels. By providing clear examples of warning signs — including threats, monitoring behavior, withholding money, restricting access to communication or transportation, and degrading treatment — HOPE Family Services aims to help community members recognize unhealthy patterns before they escalate.
Each message encourages understanding, prevention, and compassion for survivors, while promoting education as a tool for safety and change. The organization’s outreach also addresses common myths about domestic violence and reminds the public that abuse can occur in any relationship, regardless of social or economic circumstances.
For more than four decades, HOPE Family Services has served as a trusted resource in Manatee County, offering emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, and community programs for individuals affected by domestic violence.
This October, HOPE encourages everyone to take part in raising awareness, supporting survivors, and helping build a safer, more informed community.
