Hope Villages of Manatee Opens, Offering Stability and a Path to Homeownership for At-Risk Families
A decade-long dream became a reality this week as Hope Villages of Manatee officially opened its doors, welcoming families at high risk of homelessness into a transformative housing community focused on stability, empowerment, and long-term success.
Developed through a collaborative effort led by the nonprofit Hope to Homes, the new 16-unit housing development represents years of planning, partnership, and determination to provide more than just a roof—it offers a pathway out of poverty. Along with affordable housing, the campus features a community center, playground, and wraparound services designed to help families move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
The vision for Hope Villages of Manatee began more than 10 years ago when local leaders and housing advocates recognized a growing crisis among working families in the region—many living paycheck to paycheck and one emergency away from homelessness. With input from educators, faith-based organizations, social workers, and local officials, Hope to Homes created a comprehensive model that combines stable housing with life skills training, including financial literacy, job readiness, and parenting support.
Each family that enters the program undergoes a 10-point needs analysis to determine barriers to stability and create an individualized growth plan. The rent, set at $1,050 per month inclusive of utilities and WiFi, is designed to be attainable while allowing participants to build savings and prepare for homeownership. Within six months, many residents begin to see real progress, not only financially but also emotionally and mentally.
At present, Hope Village is operating at 50% capacity, with referrals coming from schools, churches, and social service agencies. However, families may also apply directly to the program. The need is great, and the team hopes to scale the model to serve more families throughout the region.
Leaders behind Hope to Homes say their ultimate goal is to expand this approach beyond Manatee County, proving that intentional, compassionate development can change lives and uplift entire communities.
