The Humane Society of Manatee County (HSMC) has announced two upcoming Trapper Tuesday events for November 3 and December 1, 2026, offering Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) services to help manage the community cat population and reduce the number of homeless cats in Manatee County.
The program provides spay and neuter services for free-roaming community cats, helping prevent unwanted litters while allowing the animals to return to their familiar outdoor environments. TNR is a widely used approach to managing community cat populations humanely.
Both events will take place at the Humane Society of Manatee County Veterinary Clinic, located at 2415 14th Street West in Bradenton. Cats must be checked in on Tuesday between noon and 2 p.m., with pickup scheduled for Thursday between noon and 2 p.m.
Due to ongoing funding challenges, the organization has announced changes to its TNR service fees. Funding for the program has not yet been secured, but HSMC remains committed to offering services at no charge for a limited number of cats.
Under the updated guidelines, the first 35 cats checked in will receive TNR services at no charge, with a limit of two cats per person, trapping location or address. Once the first 35 cats have been accepted, additional cats will be subject to a $60 fee per animal. Individuals bringing more than two cats may also have additional cats treated for $60 each.
All cats must arrive in humane traps, and kittens must weigh at least three pounds to qualify for services. Cats requiring evaluation for medical concerns will be subject to a $125 medical work-up fee per animal.
The TNR program plays an important role in reducing the number of kittens born outdoors, easing pressure on local animal shelters and improving the well-being of community cats. Sterilization also helps reduce behaviors associated with mating, including fighting, roaming and excessive vocalization.
The Humane Society of Manatee County continues to provide veterinary services and animal welfare programs designed to support pets and community animals throughout the county.
Residents interested in participating in the November 3 or December 1 Trapper Tuesday events are encouraged to review the updated requirements and prepare their humane traps before arriving.
