Iredale Connects for Solo Homer, Marauders Swept by Tortugas
Reeder and Pimentel secure multi-hit games, Bradenton drops sixth straight game
Brent Iredale connected for a solo homer during an 8-3 loss for the Bradenton Marauders (13-22, 44-56), completing a six-game sweep for the Daytona Tortugas (22-12, 42-57) on Sunday from Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Canon Reeder and Antonio Pimentel secured multi-hit games, while Bradenton fell to a 3-12 record post All-Star break.
In the top of the first, Wyatt Sanford walked and moved to third on a single by Pimentel to put a runner in scoring position. Richard Ramirez grounded into a double play, allowing Sanford to score and make it 1-0.
After Daytona put together two runs in the bottom of the second, Bradenton responded in the top of the third. Pimentel walked and came around to score on a double by Ramirez to tie the game 2-2.
Down 6-2 in the top of the sixth, Iredale smashed a solo homer, cutting the deficit 6-3.
The Tortugas plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth and the Marauders went scoreless the rest of the way to finalize an 8-3 win for Daytona.
Dominic Scheffler (2-1) earned the win, letting up a run on three hits, a walk, and four strikeouts over 3.1 innings. Dariel Francia (1-2) took the loss, allowing a run on two hits, two walks, and a strikeout over 1.2 frames.
The Marauders take the day off on Monday before beginning a six-game series against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels from LECOM Park. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
