Jauregui Rocks Fourth Homer, Marauders Fall 6-4
Pimentel cashes in three hits, De Los Santos drives in a pair
Cristian Jauregui rocked his fourth homer of the season during a 6-4 loss for the Bradenton Marauders (13-19, 44-53) to the Daytona Tortugas (19-12, 40-57) on Thursday from Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Antonio Pimentel cashed in three hits, while Johan De Los Santos drove in a pair of runs on an RBI single.
Daytona scratched across a run in the first, two in the fourth, and three in the sixth to go up 6-0 over Bradenton.
In the top of the seventh, the Marauders put together three runs off Tortugas reliever Luis Pimentel. Pimentel singled, while Canon Reeder and Jauregui worked back-to-back walks. A sacrifice fly by Luke Scherrer brought home Pimentel to make it 6-1. After a wild pitch moved Reeder and Jauregui into scoring position, both runners scored on a base hit by De Los Santos to make it a 6-3 ballgame.
Jauregui blasted a solo homer in the top of the ninth, but Bradenton went silent the rest of the way to finalize a 6-4 win for the Tortugas.
Stharlin Torres (4-5) collected the win, letting up four hits with a walk and four strikeouts through 5.0 scoreless innings. Yonleg Gaetano (0-4) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits, four walks, and a strikeout over 4.0 frames.
The Marauders and Tortugas play game four of a six-game series on Friday, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
