Jessie P. Miller Student Serves as "Mayor for the Day" in Bradenton
A fourth-grade student from Jessie P. Miller Elementary received a unique opportunity to step into the world of local government, serving as "Mayor for the Day" alongside City of Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown.
Jabari Hector, the top fundraiser for his school’s walk-a-thon, earned the chance to experience civic leadership firsthand. On Wednesday, he took a front-row seat in the council chambers, observing elected officials as they made key decisions for the city.
This special recognition not only celebrated Jabari’s fundraising efforts but also gave him an inside look at how local government operates. The initiative aims to inspire young students to engage with their community and learn about leadership roles from an early age.
Manatee County Schools continue to highlight outstanding students like Jabari, reinforcing the value of hard work, civic engagement, and community involvement.
