King Jr. Slams Sixth Homer in Marauders 8-2 Loss to Tarpons
Martinez strikes out seven, Perez collects fourth double
Eddie King Jr. slammed his sixth home run of the season during an 8-2 loss for the Bradenton Marauders (28-32) against the Tampa Tarpons (33-28) on Friday from LECOM Park. Jeter Martinez punched out seven batters, while Edgleen Perez doubled for the fourth time this season.
After Tampa plated two runs in the top of the first, Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek rocketed a solo homer in the top of the third to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
The Tarpons plated two more runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to make it 8-0.
In the bottom of the eighth, Eddie Rynders walked and King Jr. homered to cut the deficit, 8-2.
The Marauders went scoreless the rest of the way to finalize an 8-2 win for the Tarpons.
Henry Lalane (2-1) earned the win, letting up two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Martinez (1-3) took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts over 4.2 frames.
Bradenton and Tampa play the penultimate of a six-game series on Saturday with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
