Lakewood Ranch High School Choir Selected to Perform at Lincoln Center in New York City
The Lakewood Ranch High School Choir is set to take the stage at David Geffen Hall on Monday, March 30, marking a significant milestone for the talented group of student performers.
The concert, titled Vocal Colors, will honor acclaimed composer Kyle Pederson and feature seven of his works. Students from Lakewood Ranch High School will join peers from 12 other select choirs across the country to rehearse and perform alongside Pederson in a collaborative musical experience.
The opportunity came after a Lincoln Center representative viewed a video of the choir’s performance online and selected the group for the prestigious event. Since receiving the invitation last school year, the choir has been preparing for what many consider a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
In addition to the concert, students will take part in a four-day trip to New York City filled with educational and cultural experiences. The itinerary includes attending the Broadway production of Chicago, meeting cast members, and visiting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, Wall Street, and the 9/11 Memorial.
Opened in 1962, David Geffen Hall is widely recognized as one of New York City’s premier music venues and serves as the home of the New York Philharmonic. The stage has hosted world-class musicians and ensembles from around the globe, making the Lakewood Ranch High School Choir’s performance a notable achievement for the students and their community.
The upcoming performance highlights the dedication and talent of the choir members and the strength of Lakewood Ranch High School’s music program as students prepare to represent their school and community on a national stage.
