Lakewood Ranch High Student Wins Statewide America250FL Essay Scholarship
A ninth-grade student from Lakewood Ranch High School has been recognized at the state level after earning a top honor in Florida’s America250FL essay contest scholarship competition.
Jorja Lowe was recently honored by Governor Ron DeSantis in Tallahassee for her award-winning essay titled “Henry B. Plant’s Foundations of Patriotism and Prosperity.” Her submission earned her a four-year Florida College Plan scholarship provided by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
Lowe was one of only five high school students across the state selected to receive the scholarship through the America250FL essay contest, which recognizes students for their understanding of Florida history, patriotism and civic engagement.
The scholarship award is designed to support students’ future educational goals while encouraging participation in programs connected to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration. The statewide contest highlighted student essays focused on influential figures and moments that helped shape Florida and the nation.
The recognition ceremony took place in Tallahassee, where students were celebrated for their academic achievement and contributions to civic learning.
