Lakewood Ranch Library Celebrates Second Anniversary With Local Author Fair and Bestselling Keynote
The Lakewood Ranch Library will mark its second anniversary with a celebration of storytelling, creativity, and community during a Local Author Fair on Friday, January 16, 2026. The afternoon event brings together regional writers and readers for an engaging program featuring book sales, author discussions, and a keynote address by internationally acclaimed novelist Lisa Unger.
Doors open at 1 p.m., with the program beginning promptly at 2 p.m. The fair offers attendees an opportunity to meet local authors, explore a wide range of genres, purchase books, and learn more about the writing process directly from the writers themselves.
Unger, a New York Times and international bestselling author of 22 novels, will serve as the keynote speaker. Known for suspense titles such as Close Your Eyes and Count to 10, she will speak about her writing journey, creative process, and lifelong love of reading, followed by a question-and-answer session. Her books will be available for purchase on site through The Island Bookshop, with opportunities for book signing and photos later in the afternoon.
The featured lineup of local authors reflects a diverse mix of voices and genres, including Rocky Burton with adult murder mysteries; Kristen Hogan with children’s poetry and fiction; Lori Josephson focusing on family-centered nonfiction; Karen Kaiser with adult memoir; Simone Knego in adult self-help; Eliza Knight in adult historical fiction; Kevin Kuhens with adult political thrillers; Kelly Stilwell covering travel; and Jessica Ungeheuer writing adult horror and urban fantasy.
Friends of the Lakewood Ranch Library sponsors the event and celebrates two years since the library has served as a hub for learning, literacy, and community connection.
