Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Expands Robotic Surgery Program with Addition of da Vinci 5 Surgical System
Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is advancing its commitment to innovative patient care with the addition of the Da Vinci 5 Surgical System, expanding the hospital’s robotic surgery program and supporting minimally invasive procedures for patients throughout the region.
The Da Vinci 5 is the hospital’s third Da Vinci robotic surgery platform, representing a significant investment in advanced surgical technology and reinforcing Lakewood Ranch Medical Center’s commitment to providing leading-edge surgical care close to home.
With the addition of the new system, more surgeons will have access to robotic technology, allowing the hospital to perform a greater number of minimally invasive procedures across multiple specialties. The expanded capacity will also provide greater flexibility for surgical teams to utilize robotic-assisted surgery in urgent and emergent cases, ensuring patients can benefit from advanced surgical care when time matters most, rather than limiting robotic procedures primarily to scheduled elective surgeries.
Robotic-assisted surgery offers numerous benefits compared to traditional procedures, including smaller incisions, reduced pain, less blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times. By expanding access to robotic technology, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is helping more patients realize the advantages of minimally invasive surgical care while remaining close to home and their support networks throughout treatment and recovery.
“Healthcare continues to evolve, and our responsibility is to provide healthcare technology innovations that benefit our community,” said Jason Madsen, Chief Executive Officer of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. “By adding the Da Vinci 5, we’re expanding access to some of the most advanced surgical technology available today, allowing patients to receive innovative, minimally invasive care close to family, friends, and the support systems that are so important during recovery. We’re proud to continue investing in the future of healthcare for Lakewood Ranch and the surrounding communities.”
The Da Vinci 5 Surgical System incorporates more than 150 design innovations designed to enhance surgical precision, visualization, and operating room efficiency. Its advanced capabilities include next-generation high-resolution 3D imaging, force-feedback technology that provides surgeons with real-time information about the force being applied to tissue, and enhanced computing power that supports future innovations in surgical technology and data-driven care.
As demand for robotic-assisted surgery continues to grow, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center remains focused on investing in technologies that improve the patient experience and support the delivery of high-quality care. The addition of the Da Vinci 5 strengthens the hospital’s ability to meet the needs of a growing community while expanding access to advanced surgical options across a wide range of procedures.
