Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K Returns to Manatee County to Support Special Olympics Florida
Manatee County residents are invited to lace up their running shoes and show their support for athletes across the state during the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K, set for Saturday, March 21, in downtown Bradenton.
The annual event is part of the statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Florida. Each year, more than 5,000 law enforcement officers from over 300 agencies across Florida participate in a 1,500-mile relay through all 67 counties, carrying the Flame of Hope to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes.
The torch will arrive in Manatee County on the morning of March 21, where participants can join officers and community members for an 8 a.m. 5K run, walk, or race along the scenic downtown Bradenton Riverwalk. The event brings together athletes, law enforcement professionals, families, and supporters in a shared show of encouragement and unity.
Following the race, attendees can enjoy camaraderie and post-race food and beverages provided by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bradenton Police Department.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run has grown into one of the largest grassroots fundraising efforts for Special Olympics programs nationwide, helping to provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Registration and race details are available online through the official Race Roster event page. Community members are encouraged to participate, volunteer, or cheer along the Riverwalk as Manatee County continues its tradition of supporting athletes across Florida.
