Local 11-Year-Old Heads to Augusta National for National Golf Competition
Driving, chipping, and putting are among the most essential elements of golf—and 11-year-old Tobias Gordic-Ronderos has spent years mastering all three. What started as a casual interest sparked by watching his parents on the golf course has quickly transformed into a serious passion and pursuit.
Tobias’ commitment to the game recently paid off in a big way. His performance in regional qualifying rounds earned him a prestigious spot at Augusta National, where he will compete in the National Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship. He is now one of just ten boys in his age group nationwide to earn this honor.
The game runs deep in his family. Tobias’ mother, Daniella, is a former NCAA golfer from the University of South Florida, and she now plays a key role in supporting and guiding her son on his golfing journey. Her competitive experience and calm outlook have helped shape Tobias’ approach, both on and off the course.
Achieving this level of success hasn’t come without dedication. Tobias prioritizes practice and training over other typical childhood pastimes, focusing intently on his goals. As the national spotlight turns to Augusta, Tobias is working just as hard on his mindset as he is on his mechanics, recognizing that confidence and composure are just as critical as skill.
With his mother by his side and years of preparation behind him, Tobias is ready to embrace the moment. Whether or not he walks away with a trophy, his journey to Augusta is already a remarkable achievement.
Tobias will compete live on Sunday at Augusta National, with coverage available on the Golf Channel.
