Local Businesses Team Up to "Fill the Truck" for Visible Men Academy
Every year, teachers spend their own money to make sure students have the supplies they need to learn. This summer, College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving of Sarasota is teaming up with fellow local businesses to help lighten that load.
The Fill the Truck School Supply Drive kicked off this past Monday and will run through August 8, with collection sites located throughout the community. In partnership with Blue Marlin Insurance, Double Eagle Sports, and The Wakeland Support Center, the drive is collecting new school supplies that will be delivered directly to Visible Men Academy.
The goal is simple: fill a truck with enough classroom supplies to not only help students start the school year prepared, but also leave teachers with a surplus they can access throughout the year whenever supplies begin to run low.
Community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies—including notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, folders, glue sticks, dry-erase markers, tissues, hand sanitizer, and other classroom essentials—at any participating collection site through August 8.
On the 8th, the College HUNKS Sarasota team will travel between each participating business, collecting donations and filling the truck before making the final delivery to Visible Men Academy. Community members are encouraged to stop by any collection site throughout the day and help fill the truck with one last donation before it heads to the school.
Every notebook, backpack, box of crayons, or pack of pencils donated helps ensure students have the tools they need to learn while giving teachers one more resource they can rely on throughout the school year.
