Man Arrested After Attempted Child Abduction at Local 7/11
Authorities have arrested Atom Egert after a disturbing incident at a local 7/11 gas station, where he attempted to pull a child from a parked car. The incident occurred when a mother briefly left her vehicle idle with the windows down for airflow, while her young child remained strapped in the car seat.
According to reports, Egert approached the vehicle and tried to engage the child, initially attempting to give a high five. The mother, noticing Egert’s approach, asked him to leave the area. However, Egert ignored the request and proceeded to grab the child’s left arm, attempting to pull the child from the car seat.
Reacting swiftly, the mother exited her vehicle and, with the assistance of a nearby passerby, chased Egert away from the scene. Egert fled on foot but was later found behind an Aldi store, where authorities discovered him without clothing.
When questioned by deputies, Egert claimed he was trying to "protect" the child from the mother. Egert has since been taken into custody, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the attempted abduction.
