Man Arrested in Bradenton for Allegedly Throwing Cat Against Brick Wall
A Bradenton man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he threw a cat against a brick wall, causing injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.
The incident came to light when a local veterinary hospital alerted authorities that a cat in their care had suffered significant injuries. Investigators from the Bradenton Police Department launched an inquiry and determined the injuries were non-accidental.
According to police, the cat's owner told officers she found her pet injured when she returned home. While attempting to transport the animal to the veterinary hospital, her boyfriend—identified as 26-year-old Keshaun Williams—allegedly threw the cat against a brick wall. She also stated that Williams had previously displayed violent behavior toward the animal.
Williams was taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty, a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail.
Bradenton Police emphasized the importance of taking animal cruelty reports seriously, noting that violence against animals can often be a precursor to broader patterns of abuse.
The cat is reportedly recovering from its injuries.
