Manatee Business Community Outlines Key Priorities for 2026 State Legislative Session
Manatee County’s business leaders and local officials have finalized a set of priorities they plan to advance during the 2026 Florida legislative session, focusing on infrastructure, local authority, economic development and community support.
The Manatee Chamber of Commerce’s state legislative agenda highlights a range of issues intended to support the region’s long-term growth and quality of life. Among the top priorities are securing state funding for local capital projects, addressing community needs such as homelessness services and transportation improvements, and advocating for policy changes that preserve local control.
Specific appropriation requests tied to the agenda include investments for homelessness recovery services, replacement of aging bridges, extensions of key roadways to support economic development and enhancements to recreational and community spaces. These projects reflect a focus on both infrastructure and social services that local leaders say are essential for the county’s future.
In addition to funding requests, the agenda emphasizes broader policy goals, including preserving home-rule authority for counties and municipalities, expanding workforce training and education programs, and ensuring stable funding for public safety and elder care programs.
