Manatee Clerk Urges Residents to Secure Important Documents Before Hurricane Season Intensifies
As hurricane season enters its busiest months, the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller is encouraging residents to prepare now by organizing and protecting their important personal documents before a storm threatens the area.
Officials recommend gathering copies of essential records, including birth certificates, driver’s licenses and other identification, insurance policies, property deeds, leases, mortgage documents, wills, trusts, and power of attorney paperwork. Having these documents readily available can help speed recovery efforts if a home is damaged or residents need to file insurance claims or replace lost records after a storm.
Many of these records can be accessed through the Manatee County Clerk’s Office. Residents can visit the Clerk’s website or use the office’s mobile app to search for records and order certified copies before severe weather arrives.
Preparing documents in advance is one of several steps emergency officials recommend as part of hurricane preparedness, helping families avoid unnecessary stress during an evacuation or in the aftermath of a storm.
