The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners will take up a wide-ranging agenda Tuesday, Sept. 22, including proposed regulations on simulated gambling devices, a temporary moratorium on data center development, rural land protection agreements and county financial policies.
Commissioners are scheduled to hold a public hearing on Ordinance 26-42, which would establish a temporary moratorium on applications related to data centers, large-scale data centers and other large-load customers in unincorporated Manatee County. The moratorium would apply to applications for building permits, site plans, development orders, development agreements, special permit uses, rezonings and comprehensive plan amendments.
Another public hearing will focus on Ordinance 26-36, which would regulate simulated gambling devices in Manatee County and includes consideration of a related memorandum of understanding.
The consent agenda includes two significant land conservation items involving Mossy Island Ranch and Thundercloud Ranch. Commissioners will consider rural lands protection easements for both properties through partnerships with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Rural and Family Lands Protection Program.
Housing-related items include consideration of up to $75 million in single-family mortgage revenue bonds and several multifamily housing bond proposals. Projects include Lotus Vyne, DeSoto Apartments, Luminara Place, Harborline at Sarasota and Orange on 14th Street.
Commissioners will also consider authorizing speed humps on 47th Street West/Northwest between Third Avenue West and Riverview Boulevard and extending an agreement with the City of Bradenton Beach involving a dock repair project.
Other items include continued discussion of the county’s reserve policy, appointments to the Citizens Oversight Committee for the Infrastructure Sales Tax Advisory Board, funding and agreements involving emergency medical services and the Coordinated Opioid Recovery program, and the county library system’s FY27 annual plan.
The board is also scheduled to receive a report on the Duette Preserve Hunt Program.
The meeting will be held in the Patricia M. Glass Chambers at the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton. Residents may attend in person, watch the meeting online or through Manatee Government Access television channels, and submit public comments through the county’s public participation options.
