Manatee County is accepting applications for two seats on the Planning Commission, a citizen advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land-use matters.
One seat will become vacant in October, while a current Planning Commission member is seeking reappointment to the second seat.
The Board of County Commissioners will appoint two members to four-year terms. The Planning Commission consists of seven voting members who must be qualified electors of Manatee County. While no specific expertise is required, applicants with experience or training in planning, engineering, environmental science or the development industry may be considered as part of the appointment process.
The Planning Commission serves as the County’s Local Planning Agency under Florida Statutes. More information about the commission, including its responsibilities, can be found here.
Planning Commission members cannot be employed by Manatee County or serve on another land development-related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.
The Planning Commission generally meets at 9 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the Honorable Patricia M. Glass Chambers on the first floor of the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
Applications are due Friday, September 25, 2026, and are available online.
