Manatee County Announces FREE Community Cleanup Event on January 10
Manatee County is inviting residents to take part in a FREE Community Cleanup Event on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at two locations—Parrish Community Park and the Myakka City Community Center— where they can safely dispose of unwanted items and support community beautification efforts.
“This is a great way for our residents to get rid of those bigger items that may have cost them more to dispose of… for free,” said District 1 Commissioner Carol Ann Felts. “Neighbors are encouraged to work together to get what they need to get rid of at these drop-off sites so we can help keep our community clutter-free.”
The event is open only to residents of unincorporated Manatee County, and participants will be asked to provide proof of residency at the drop-off sites. Businesses, landlords and contractors are not eligible to participate.
Residents may bring items, such as old tires (excluding oversized or commercial); large appliances, like refrigerators and washing machines; bulky household items, including sofas and mattresses; and properly prepared yard waste (bagged in paper, tied or bundled, under four feet and under 40 pounds). Recyclable materials also will be accepted. However, household hazardous waste, including paint, chemicals, oil and propane tanks, cannot be accepted at these locations, nor can electronics, such as televisions, computers and printers. Business waste, medical waste and contractors or commercial debris are also prohibited. The County reserves the right to refuse items that do not meet disposal guidelines.
To help keep traffic flowing smoothly, residents are encouraged to sort materials before arrival, follow the instructions of on-site staff and be patient during high-volume periods. Carpooling with neighbors is also recommended.
Cleanup drop-off locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:
Parrish Community Park
7550 Fort Hamer Road, Parrish, FL 34219
Myakka City Community Center
10060 Wauchula Rd, Myakka City, FL 34251
Additional free cleanup events will be announced throughout 2026. Updates on this and future cleanup events will be available at mymanatee.org. Residents can learn more about how waste is managed in Manatee County by exploring the virtual tour of the Lena Road Landfill. Remember, it is FREE to drop off hazardous waste at the Lena Road Landfill, Monday through Friday, during regular hours and every third Saturday. More information is available at mymanatee.org.
